On June 11, 2018 Garfield County Commissioners adopted an ordinance stating that no fireworks may be ignited in rural Garfield County in 2018. This ban extends to all private and state owned lands and INCLUDES fireworks that are normally legal and readily available. Legal fireworks are those that are sold at stores/firework stands, that don’t leave the ground, explode, or emit fireballs. This may INCLUDE caps, fountains, ground spinners, smoke bombs, sparklers, and small cars/tanks with limited pyrotechnics.
For the safety of the general public, the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office and the Glenwood Springs Police Department will enforce a zero tolerance policy for anyone who ignites any type of fireworks, whether it be in rural Garfield County or within Glenwood Springs city limits.
Anyone who violates this ordinance is subject to a fine of no more than $1,000.00 for each separate violation.
